Vanda Playford studied medicine at the London Charing Cross Medical School and fine art at the London Guildhall University, she completed an MA in photographic studies at Derby University and a Ph. D. at the Royal Collage of Art, London, where she describes in detail the roles and rituals of the patient and the doctor in a GP surgery and in a consultation, and investigates the effects of ritual. Vanda has worked as a general practitioner and as a tutor/lecturer in fine art in both London and Hertfordshire. In her art she uses photography, video and sound. She is interested in the performative and ritualistic aspects of everyday occupational and social situations.
